Kispiox BC Ksan Village

The Gitxsan village of Kispiox, meaning "the people of the hiding place" in reference to a legendary massacre, is home to skilled Native artists, with many totem poles on display within the community. There are two carving schools and several galleries, including that of world famous Gitxsan master carver Walter Harris.

The Kispiox River, easily navigated by canoe, kayak or raft, has been designated a trophy river by the Provincial government and is renowned for steelhead, coho salmon, rainbow, cutthroat and Dolly Varden. The Babine, Bear, Bulkley and Skeena Rivers also offer excellent fishing within a half hour of the village.

Visitors will find a cafe, grocery stores, gas station, bed and breakfasts, campgrounds, cabin and lodge rentals, including fish smoking and freezing facilities and guides. Seeley Lake and Swan Lake Kispiox River Provincial Parks are located nearby. The Kispiox Valley Rodeo is held in June and the annual Kispiox Valley Music Festival at the end of July.
